THIS In the end, I had to pull both valve slides 1 and 3 out anywhere from 1 to 2 inches. Before anyone asks. Any insight?Like instead of one team attacking and the other defending, a level where each team has their objectives and whoever completes theirs first wins the match. yes, I have a tuner, that I'm staring at like a hawk trying to get notes into tune. I really don't think this is ALL because I'm out of practice. Getting into tune lip-wise is what is hard. I don't even know if this is a viable solution but at this point, I'm going with whatever works. Before anyone says it, it is freezing cold here (we keep the heat off to save money, and there's snow outside our sliding door, haha)., but some notes will always be either sharp or flat by just a touch (except C which is almost always terribly sharp if I'm not staring directly at the tuner) Also, G is so sharp and D is so flat (1-2 valve D and G), that I've given up using that fingering and went to using 3rd valve alone to play both notes (which is still a challenge to keep in tune but no where near as difficult as 1-2 valve). I'm not trying to be a star in some orchestra, I'm just trying to play in a small community band so I can enjoy playing again (it's been a few years since I was playing)While I realize it's been a few years and that my embouchure isn't what it used to be, I'm having severe trouble with this new instrument being hideously sharp.I have tried every combination of pulling the valve slides that I can think of, and the best I can do is set it up so that almost every single note needs crazy lip adjustment to get it in tune.Register or Login to Remove this AdThis is long but I'm hoping someone has some insight.I have a brand new Jupiter Euphonium, just a student model. It's definitely not the heat causing it.Problem is, this of course gives me OTHER problems. every first-valve note is out of tune requiring immense lip changes depending on the note and range of the note just to put it in tune.If I leave valve slides 13 pushed all the way in, I get a progression similar to this: low Bb is slightly sharp but easily correctable, C is incredibly sharp requiring immense jaw-dropping to get it in tune, D and Eb are FLAT and requiring the exact opposite of the adjustment for C-natural to get them anywhere near being in tune, F is typically on, G is SHARP (how can this be if lower D was flat! it's the same valve position), A-natural has a tendency to be sharp but is typically not too bad, and higher Bb is in tune.cheeseandburger My Favorite.First, in order for just plain old Bb to be in tune anywhere on the range, the main slide has to be out a minimum of a couple of inches.Next, the low C-natural is so sharp that I can play it as a C# with no difficulty.
