THIS I am basically just trying to do my homework BEFORE i bring home a pup. So I don't know what to expect as far as this goes???My final question (for now lol) is probably one of the most important. (we've dog sat and even fostered before) I love my pooch, but in his old age I do miss having someone to play fetch with, take to the park and romp around, etc. So, I thought (aside from doing some reading up) the best place to get info would be from ppl who actually live with boxers. My hubby on the other hand, is apprehensive about dobes for the same reasons they get a bad rap.one o fthe breeds I have narrowed my search down to is the boxer.engadget20080117h.)While reviewing configs for some leagues, the ETPro team noticed that most of the configs were ported pretty much straight from RTCW. characteristic wise; both intelligent & strong willed at times, both are "velcro" dogs (always wanting to be near you), etc. lol I want a dog that is friendly, but at the same time who (if the need ever truly arose) would be able to protect me. and completely bounced off the walls non-stop.remove:pb_sv_specname "WTV-speakeasy"there is no wolftv for ET add:pb_sv_cvar r_primitives IN 0 23 could be used as a cheat. Ok, so onto my questions. well, first of all I don't own a boxer. The other was a puppy. In fact, as long as the other dog didnt harass him I know he would be fine with it.I would like a dog that has a lot of energy to play, but who can also amuse himself at times in play. see r_nv_fogdist_modeadd: pb_sv_cvar r_nv_fogdist_mode INCLUDE NV'this is the correct fog check for ET.remove: pb_sv_task 300 600 pb_sv_cvarsrch com_maxfpsremove: pb_sv_task 600 600 pb_sv_bindsrch com_maxfpsthe com_maxfps sniper cheat no longer exists in ET (recoil is fps independent in ET)rain can probably chime in with others. didn't move much. Let's see, .remove: r_uifullscreenafaik this no longer works in ET, so checking it is pointless. note, pb generates bogus (but harmless) violation warnings on this.remove: r_ext_NV_fog_distthis doesnt work the same in ET anymore. how well do boxers get along with other dogs? Most dogs (i think?) if socialized well as puppies are atleast cordial to other dogs, but like i mentioned . Maybe an odd mix? lol I grew up with doberman's and feel they get a bad rap due to ppl who don't train treat their dog's properly. Some books say they are just as friendly as a golden, others say they are good watchdogs' , others say they will even "guard" if necessary. and trying to find a good match for both me and my hubby. but on a real-world take of the things they did.The only boxers I have ever spent any time around however were a very old and ill one (heart problems) that was super sweet but due to his illness. ya know? I have basically narrowed it down to two large breeds ; boxer and doberman. From what I have read, they actually do have several simularities. I'm not sure what kind of training if any his owners were providing , but this dog was waaay out of control. and can tell it like it is lol So I am full of questions basically, not just about the things the books didn't cover. I'm not sure if this is somethign I can expect with aboxer from what i have read? Also, while my main priority in having a large dog isn't protection (if it were I'd buy a gun or something lol) I do expect a dog to have some watchdog (bark -alert) instincts. I am not a big fan of golden retreivers (for eg) bc they're just as nice to the guy robbing your house as your best friend.Hi all :) newbie here. so it's kind of important my new dog is friendly with opther canines. Seems to me that someone lost a bet. I currently have a 14 year old maltese (5 lbs, with a mellowing nepolian (sp?) complex lol) .Here's something the robber in grubby's post is lucky he didn't have. i have an older , tiny dog, and also a lot of friends who visit with their dogs almost daily. or atleast alert me and deter a "bad guy".The problem is that many of the cvars no longer work in ET, or they work differently. so let me intoduce myself. Enjoys a good game of "i sniff you you sniff me, we wag" every now and then, but otherwise pretty mmuch ignores other dogs. How do boxers fair in this department? (again, i have read mixed reviews)Thanks in advance for all your input :)[list]. I have been going through general breed books, reading about character traits, etc. So far I'm glad to have done this, bc alot of the breeds that i thought were "oh so cute" didn't sound so good a macth for me on paper.as-photoshopp(I don't know why that struck me as so funny. In fact I am not certain that boxers are the breed for me. (large and small come into our home daily, with visiting friends) The fact that he has mellowed so much, makes me think we would be ok in getting another dog. for many years he didn't seem to realize he was a lap dog lol But he's a "senior" now, and has dramatically mellowed with age. He's just sort of indifferent about fellow dogs. I have read absolute opposite reviews of boxers on this issue
