He has been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and will need medication for the rest of his life. It will cost around $40 a month for the medicine. We'll be starting him on it on Thursday and will have his levels re tested in a couple of weeks. A bit about Rocky... he was living in a home that was neglectful. He came to us with this known thyroid problem, but they refused treatment. It's made his fur very thin and he's very overweight (98 lbs). Once he's on the medicine, we're sure it'll all clear up. He has had all bloodwork now, and we'll be sure to make sure there's no surprises. He had 3 baths last night and was a dream during it all. He stood there and let us scrub and squish all parts of him, without any problem. When we were all done washing and drying him, he was full of nub wiggling and kisses. He was introduced to the two resident boxers, and had no problem at all. He sniffed and wandered around and gave kisses to anyone who would have them.
